Johnny Rad's

Posted: September 8, 2011

I was in Washington, DC last week with some of the Thrasher crew for the Maloof contest. On Wednesday we decided to take a day trip up to Baltimore, to catch the Orioles at Camden Yards. After the game we called our homie Bobby Worrest and asked if he knew of any sweet watering holes in the area. He recommended Johnny Rad's, a bar/pizzeria on Eastern Avenue. Upon our arrival, we discovered that Rad's tavern wasn't your average saloon. Owned and operated by lifelong 'boarders, the walls are adorned with skate memorabilia; wheels serve as doorknobs, and there's a fully-operational 720 arcade game. The menu features pizzas with names such as the Hosoi, Pepe, Templeton… And even one named after my father, the Pesto Vitello. If you ever find yourself in Charm City, this joint's a must-visit. Good people, good eats, and plenty to drink…   –Tony Vitello
