The Pioneer: Bob Burnquist
"He stands alone with his skating"

Posted: May 5th, 2010

Bob’s an animal. That part in Extremely Sorry was outrageous, but there’s about 45 minutes on the cutting room floor that’s all as gnarly as what we did use. I didn’t know people could ride those ramps like that until I saw Bob skate it. He rides the massive terrain differently than everybody else—he looks like he’s on a mini-ramp. The front blunt on the goal post? Frontside Cab into the quarterpipe? Into an 18-foot vert ramp? If you fall, you’re not getting whiplash—you’re gonna break your neck! Nobody expected Bob to have a part that was going to excite them like that one did. Bob skates with a lot of passion, the tricks he’s doing are ridiculous, and rad to watch at the same time. He stands alone with his skating. —Geoff Rowley
