SF is turning its back on another approved skatepark. Sign this petition online to show your support for the construction of a new park in the Haight.

The city of San Francisco needs more skateparks. Mayor Gavin Newsom's Skateboard Task Force found that San Francisco has over 20,000 skateboarders in 2001. Since then San Francisco has built one skatepark on the south-east side of San Francisco's Potrero Hill neighborhood.

The San Francisco Skateboard Association and the community has searched for years on where a skatepark could be built in the Haight Ashbury.

Stanyan and Waller is sought to be a perfect location for a skatepark due to its visibility, its location adjacent to the police station, its location within Golden Gate Park for recreation, and the opportunity to revitalize the entrance to Golden Gate Park in the Haight Ashbury.

The plan calls for a multi-use area along Stanyan and Waller in Golden Gate Park for a farmers markets and other community oriented activities. The back portion of the site closest to Lincoln Highway would be a skatepark.
