Title: I Filmed This...
Post by: krusher on June 12, 2011, 03:17:17 AM
This is suppose to be where Filmer's put their stuff but I'll believe it when I see it.

I filmed this...

Typical Culture Zine Release BBQ (http://vimeo.com/24983969)

I forgot to say that I am not a filmer, I'm a blogger

Best music selection ever! It's going to take at least the rest of the afternoon to get "Ah shit, anotha' bbq" out of my head.

It was either that song or a Steven Seagal song... I think I made the right choice.

The homeless dude that sleeps in my side yard must have had that song stuck in his head all day, I must have played it a hundred times when I was editing.

I learned a long time ago that if you get a song stuck in your head to sing the Flintstones theme song to get it out.

That was a fun edit, I need to get a better filmer... that dude SUCKS!

"thanks for riding skateboarding's coattails for decades.... it must feel good to be the wine coolers to our whiskey."

GOOD ONE!

And good stuff too Paul. You better believe it will be blogged! (most of it has been already ;)

BG, can you kindly fix the embed for "red's fist visit to MW?" Would appreciate.

Edit: Ok, now I see there's a whole thread about this. Still, it's busted.

Some of those guys were going so fast it looked like they were in fast-forward.

Excellent song selection.

I agree! It's pretty horrible.

The song has been used and the effects are lame. My filmer sucks too! I guess I'll try harder next time... hopefully

You didn't think I was putting it down do you? Because I wasn't.

HAHA! I knew that.

It turns out that I get really drunk when I edit. It helps with my insecurities about my projects and it lessens my hatred for my inabilities so that I can push the button that says "share". Also I find that if I'm not stoked on something when I'm drunk, it must be really bad.

So the second timed I read your post I'd realized I could turn it around... I was just being drunk and stupid.

i hear ya. sitting still in front of a computer sipping beers makes the drunkness sneak up on you.... you sit down planning to just work for a little bit, and pretty soon 3 hours and a 12 pack are gone.

A few years back, didn't he buy the film (for $200?) from a photographer that had him doing a loop in some NW park so it wouldn't end up in Thrasher? I thought maybe it was the first loop done in a concrete park even?

Pretty amazing if true. Dude is legit as fuck. Can't imagine too many human beings in existence that would go out of their way to downplay their (pretty significant) contributions to just about anything in this world. Humility is the finest trait a person can have.

the loop story is true...  at the bowl at his house, there was a STRICT no cameras policy, to the point that even cell phone cameras weren't allowed.

^Now I know how people feel when they look  at my clips.

I hate it when my FTR clips go over 90 seconds unless there is a pro skating. That being said here is my take of the WSVT Shitter Jam with no currant pros skating...

2011 WSVT Shitter Jam (http://vimeo.com/26256187)

...it's about  90 seconds too long but I had to trim it down from 2 hours of footy. My computer hates the time laps effect so I couldn't do any precision editing and the song gets away from the action... oh well. I still had a blast hanging with friends and filming this. I need to get better at titles and filming, maybe one day I'll be good enough.

here's a timelapse (http://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video.php?v=235385796491506)

imovie timelapse trick.....

take the footage you want to timelapse, and speed it up as much as possible with the imovie tools.
export the sped-up footage to your desktop. name it something like "timelapse1"
import back into imovie as it's own new clip. (you can do this multiple times to really speed things up. just make sure to keep track of the exports, as you can eat up a bunch of hard drive space doing all those exports. imovie recopies them into it's own media folder, so you can always just dump the clip from the desktop into the trash after you import it.)

optional- chop it up into 20second-ish chunks, and put long cross dissolves in between them. this will shorten things up, and make the movement fade in and out like in the example i posted in the link above.

export the resulting clip to the desktop, and then use that new clip in your actual project. for example, in my most recent clip, i did the miniramp build timelapse in imovie (sped up and exported/reimported 5 or 6 times to trim 7.5 hours of build footage into the quick intro it has...) and then took it into final cut to do the rest of the clip.

Thanks for the tip!

It took a couple of times for me to read it and understand what you were saying (I'm that illiterate). I can't wait to give it a shot!

i'm not the best at explaining stuff, either. if i was sitting net to you, i could make it make sense better.

basicallly, exporting the sped-up clips and reimporting them just makes things easier on your computer, which will make the lapses render more clearly.

^You explained it well I was just too ignorant to understand. Thanks by the way it worked out great.

Here's my take from the party we had at my pad last week

KOGBLOGGER TAKE: NETWORK ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY (http://vimeo.com/35679317)

This is not all that I saw but it is what I can fit into 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I had a blast, I was drunk by 2 and kept partying till ten.
My shaky cam technique is well featured in this one.

Filmed on my iPhone, little Samsung HD camera and my GoPro.
Edited in iMovie.

I filmed and edited this one.

ADRIAN MALLORY IPHONE QUICK THREE on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/42602480)

Talked to a couple of skate filmers and apparently I fucked up a bunch, even though I filmed this on my iPhone. Good thing I only learn from my mistakes...
