Title: Skate Shoe Recommendation?
Post by: Kieran Davies on August 08, 2013, 12:34:03 PM
Not sure where to post a thread like this but...

I am wondering what skate shoes to recommend for purchase really?
Not just to skate in, but for practical use and comfort.

I was big on the Janoski SB's, both in look and style of shoe. Not too interested in the chunky skate shoes either?

Any links/names/brand is cool with me, just looking to browse by recommendations.

Cheers

I've not skated any pairs of nikes so I can't really give you that much feedback.
I just go with vans authentics, mainly because I find they're really light and the fabric is thin so they're super comfortable.

This does however mean they have a fairly limited lifespan, but either some show goo or just forking out for a new pair is usually my solution (authentics and era's seem to be crazy popular now so there's usually a few shops that have them on special).

I tried a pair of the Duane Peters Iron Fist sneakers and really didn't like them.

TNT FIVE

^^ These. They are super comfy, maybe the most comfortable pair I have ever owned and their lifespan is increased due to reinforced areas around the toecap. Regarding the looks, I have the black/checkerboard pair which looks just amazing and you don't really see around much often.

Nike's are too narrow for my fat feet. I loved the Lakai Manchester with the cupsole. I am currently wearing some SK8-Hi's and these things are pretty durable.

I'm rolling with the Emerica Herman G6's right now. I can honestly say that they're the most durable skate shoes that I've had in quite a while. I'm a little disappointed in the impact support (got a gnarly heel bruise in them) but I replaced the insole with a Dr. Scholl's gel insole and I'm really happy with them now. Definitely worth the money (I would have gone through two pairs of cheaper shoes in the time that I've been rocking these.)

Was tossing up between a pair of supra deathwish pistols or hammers.
Ended up going with pistols as they seemed to fit better and were $50 cheaper.

Pretty keen to skate them as I've only really ever skated vans but I've noticed the base of my foot starting to ache after a few hours. Figured it was time to try something new.

Pretty keen to give them a whirl once the wrist heals up.

So I have used a few shoes in the past and I was wondering if anyone has ever used Zero Shoes?

I have never used them but I might give them a try.

Anything off the Emerica line that suits you. They've been killing it lately and I especially recommend the Herman G6.

In my honest opinion, I would recommend buying the Nike Janoskis. That's what I'm currently using and they have lasted longer than any other shoe that I've had. They're super comfortable, have those laces that don't get torn up from the grip tape, and don't get scuffed after a couple of tricks. Again, my opinion.
