Title: Shattered wrist wall ride fail
Post by: JT Krooked on September 29, 2013, 03:29:16 PM
Anybody break a wrist here? I totally fucked up a wall ride today on campus and shattered my wrist, how long did you guys wait to skate again, I can't quit cause I love it too much, only bone i broke before was a rib. This shit is killing my confidence big time. I'm worried about speed and wall riding now. Not feeling well fam

how old are you?  breaking yourself off is always confidence crushing but it's no big deal.  do what the doc says and you're fine.  i've broken everything and i'm still skating 30 years later.

I'm in my 20's and I've been skating for 3 1/2 years, I'm gonna have to skate with a wrist protector now i guess, despite the injury I'm glad I started skating, I guess I was just looking for some people to tell me their own experiences. it could've been worse (broken leg, ankle, torn knee ligament)

skating with a wrist protector will only cause you to favor your wrist and to fall on something else, like your elbow.  it will also not allow you to rebuild your wrist muscles the same way as it will become dependant on the guard for strength.  guys rebound from all the injuries you described and put in many more years skating.

I fractured my wrist about 2 months ago doing a boneless, I was told about a month ago to give it another 2 months. So if my maths is good that's all up 3 months.

However it's pretty different from person to person.
My doc was pretty adamant that I should stay off it for 3-4 months
