Title: PETITION for a new skatepark
Post by: Alaska on January 21, 2009, 05:52:51 PM
This effort might be for nothing, but i'm pretty sure the city is still considering it and a petition can only help... it would help immensely because it snows for more than half the year in this area

ALSO, the zip code is 99501, post that because it might not count if the zip isn't close enough

really, internet petitions don't do much fo local politics.
the powers that be in anchorage don't care if people outside of alaska support the idea on the internet.
make an actual physical petition and circulate it locally.

what we did in fairbanks is get local kids and parents to sign the petition.then every month we would go to the borough meetings and petition the board to help us to have a local free sk8park.it finally worked and we were able to get john weaver memorial park.named after a friend of mine that was killed in a car crash.good luck man.if not you always have girdwood.lol

I used to live in Alaska but I was young and didnt skate.
We lived on a coast guard base and there were some mini-ramps set up.

Im pretty sure that you would have to be an Alaskan citizen to sign a petition like this. I suggest walking through your town going door to door telling everybody of the pros of having a park built.
