Bikers, scooterers, ripstickers, bigwheelers, kids are like parasites that invade a skatepark.
I wonder if there'll ever be a day when they get their own park.

Or rather when WE get our own skaters only "Public Park"

UGH every time I go to Chicago I search and search and search for that park.  and never win.  ever.

and a bunch of skaters in Flint worked for a park for years and finally got a portable park while still saving for a concrete piece.  We took it upon ourselves to decide that there were no bikes allowed, and regulated how long the ripstick runs were gonna be.

and although I've met a few alright BMXers I've never once come across a BMX park.  Skateboarders seem to be the only breed to have enough ambition to make their own shit.

Bikers can suck a nut when they bitch about not being allowed @ a park.

Pretty damn sure every skateboarder wished the could ride on dirt and grass.

Just a little south of Chicago you got this Grindline park in Whiting, Indiana.

build a park yourself, and you get to make the rules.
you also get to paint over the inevitable graffiti left by the bikers you kick out.

but it is worth it.

I'm going to one day soon. I build little stuff here and there, but I want to build a really nice cement park here

But in a town where the mayor will bulldoze a runway over night without consent of the city, I hate to imagine what he would do to a skatepark...

wilson park is a lot of fun, but pretty frustrating because of the high amount of morons who go there. i would go a lot more often if i didnt have to deal with all the bikers, bladers, ripsticks, snakeboards, heelies, scooters and randoms. once you get past all of that crap wilson is a lot of fun.

there is another cement park in chicago called burnham. i havent been there yet, so i dont know if its good or not. i have gotten mixed reviews on it.

if you are able to travel a little there is a really good cement park about 25 minutes outside chicago in a park called northbrook. definitely worth the trip out there.

there are some other cement parks throughout the suburbs, but they are nothing special.

Wilson is our best park in Chicago with ease. But there arent a lot of lines and room, and its usually pretty damn busy. Located at the northeast corner of Wilson & Lake Shore Drive (North of Downtown)

Burnham is our first skatepark, all concrete, but its heavily flawed in design and execution. But thats what makes me like it the best. Kinda in a sketch area but you should be okay. 31st street and Lake Shore Drive. (South of downtown)

Northbrook was suggested. Really good bowl, street area is pretty useless. Park is lit up at night til like 10 i believe, but its always busy too when the kids are out of school. Kids rip there too.

Someone mentioned Whiting Skatepark. That park ruled. yes ruled. they destroyed it over the summer to make way for a boardwalk/lakefront area. New park is in the plans but not yet anywhere near started.

Thats about it for good cement parks in chicagoland. We're pro's at getting super shitty prefab bullshit parks.

Y'all should check out McHenry Skatepark... they got a nice wood section but the concrete half is pretty sick.  Its got a large-ass bowl and a couple stair sets.

You didn't say Chicago ONLY, so set your sights outside the shitty...er...city.  There's a park with 2 decent bowls (one is a "starter" bowl) as well as an old school drainage ditch type bowl out in Gurnee (45 min.-hour NW of Chicago), and another that I've only seen pics of in Waukegan which is about 20 min. east of Gurnee.  You never know what you're gonna find until you open your eyes.  Hell, I live down in southern Missouri now, and low & behold the city of just over 10,000 has an all cement park!  Bowl seems to have a little too much flat in it, but I've never been a real shredder when it comes to bowls.  I can't hack on Wilson, never been there, just making a suggestion.
Too bad The Turf up in Milwaukee is lying under ruble waiting to be demolished.  THAT place was the shit!
