I just want some new wheels and I'll be happy... I can always use a new deck too.

I know that option, but it's not the same-- the controller is one thing, as it's usually more responsive, but then sometimes the game themselves even don't work as well. The computer skips frames and freezes at fast moments, like, I can get up to level 29 on NES Tetris, but on the computer I can only get up to level 20 or so before it skips a beat and screws up my move....

Yeah, but finding a NES in good condition is bloody hard these days. So Roms are pretty much my only option.

I could find one in 20 minutes here...  Of course it would be a Famicom.

Yeah, but you live in mystical Nippon, You can find pretty much anything electrical in Akihabara, Last time I was out there I stumbled across a specialist shop that carried ghettoblasters and ghettoblasters only.

haha, cool.

I'm nowhere near Akihabara though.  Just every household in the country had one at some point, keep them in good shape, then sell them to used goods stores.  There's one right next to my place, and I'm sure they've got a couple there.

a lot of them. or they might have one working when they would normally have more. a lot of those that have to work are bitter about it and won't do their jobs. and sometimes they are just in the "christmas spirit." one year i was skating downtown manhattan with a friend and then security comes up. we thought we were getting the boot for sure, but he just comes over and starts waving his hands around saying "i have to pretend like i am kicking you guys out, so just wait until i go back in to skate. merry christmas."

awesome. i once had a security guard at a parking garage explain to me that if we just hopped the wall to get in, the cameras wouldn't see us enter, and then he wouldn't know we were there. it became the go-to spot for most of that winter.

You mean there's no 'used console' vending machines near you?  Weak.

You can get beer, used panties, an food, but no 20 year old consoles.  What is the world coming to...

Can you read Japanese? You could totally play the original versions of video games in Japanese, then argue about how it's better and the translation ruins the plot. Hang out with some Otaku dudes.

Hehe, I've had mine now for over 20 years (as you can tell by my childhood stickers).  Two weeks ago I got to level 16 - holla!

It's amazing what you can get out of vending machines here... yes, used panties.  Also porno, a bag of eggs, a hot bowl of noodles...

Otaku is like "geek" - someone who is really into one thing, enough to bitch about the most minute detail...

Hahahaha, "buttery bucky"...
