Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

I just revisited "Beer Slave" the other night and it dawned on me that it's one of my favorites.   I am not sure why because it's not the cleanest, inspirationally shot, creative explosion of genius I have ever seen but I like the skating and the bonus is solid.

Maybe it's just the fact that it's the last video I watched.

Thats cool, you should definitely do it.  I was just thinking recently that if I ever get laid off, I'd like to go back to school for finance and geology.  A late start is better than no start.

Thanks man.  But no real danger to me personally.  And it's not going to be as big as expected.  Biggest tsunami to hit so far is about 4 feet.  A considerable wave for sure, but nothing devastating.  100's of thousands of people are evacuated as a precaution anyway though.

I might not know things about stuff, but isnt a 4 foot wave just a wave? doesnt sound like a tsunami to me... sounds like something that would be fun to body surf

It's very different from a normal wave.  This wave has no back.  So the wave hits, but doesn't pass.  A normal wave is energy moving through the water, with a tsunami, the water is all rushing forward.

Not a big deal this time, but the potential is still there for a great deal of damage, even if the tsunami is only 4 feet or so high.

I've been watching Heath's part in Mindfield.  classic.  It's up their with his TWS footy. Man, what happened to Berra. Berra and Kirchart left Birdhouse for Workshop around the same time and came up together. But Berra's 1 min, or less, of footy was weak when compared to Heath's. I thought having your own private park would help you.....Anyways I've been watching that and Sasha Grey in her F*ckingmachines.com clip.

Title: Re: what are ya watching?
Post by: bucky fellini on April 27, 2010, 09:59:10 AM
Pacino rips through and through.

In Righteous Kill, after interviewing a very unhelpful woman, the conversation ends with this:

Pacino: "Lick my balls anytime."

Woman: "What?"

Pacino: "Call us anytime, you know"

That is brilliant. However, aside from this quote and seeing Rob Dyrdek play a skateboarding pimp who gets shot, that movie was a steaming pile of shit.

Yeah, I think there's not as much character development as there was in BoB. And I had a hard time differentiating people... I didn't even realize that Sledge was supposed to be one of the main characters until episode 5 or 6. SNAFU is a better character than Sledge but we don't learn anything about him, really. Leckie's cool but it's hard to care about anyone else. They're just faces with no background stories. In BoB, you knew right away who you were supposed to follow. And there's nothing really like the Nixon-Winters bond. Oh god, am I getting bromantic now?

The Okinawa episode is pretty effing gnarly though.
