..When did it become ok to pivot the last 90 degrees of a trick? Flatground is rad and all, but like on a backside 180 flip why is it alright to kickflip backside 90 degrees, and then nose pivot/backside power slide the last 90? When did that become acceptable as a "make"? Some dudes make it look better than others but it still seems funny that everyone just accepts it as standard if there's no toe drag. Not to sound like an old fart, and no way could I come close to any of the dudes at BATB, but when did style get mistaken for well......slop.

Totally. Very few can 360 front or back on flat without that last little turn. I'm not hating either though. It's just funny that even if he had full rotation to stomp and dragged a toe we would call it slop. But if he rotates 270 clean and mini slides the rest we're ok with it.

If someone ever does a back 360 in a game of skate, I back ollie 90 and slide 270 just to show the ridiculousness of the game and what people consider acceptable and what they don't.

I got entered in a team game of skate set for a couple weeks from now. I'm gonna ollie 2 inches, and slide the shit out of every trick I do.

I think it's a slippery slope to start judging like it's Olympic figure skating.  If you land it without eating shit than it's a make to me.  I think people get too carried away categorizing, naming tricks and picking apart flaws.   It doesn't really matter outside of a contest scoring system especially if it's still pulled off with style. If I was having a good time skating and someone pointed out that they were displeased with my adherence to the technical standard than I would likely respond by pointing to my genitals and requesting that they put their filthy mouth to better use.

I may be biased though given that I am sloppy as fuck, take a few tries to land anything and consistently reject requests to play games of Skate.

I know where you're coming from. Judging skating in general is kind of fucked. Not everyone can make it look like an art form, and more and more the SKATE BATB world is taking over. I just say don't push shit foot, and don't claim it if you can't make it look good.

on the day-to-day, sessions with friends, it's perfectly acceptable, and i may even give you a board smack.

film it and put it on view for the public expecting people to think youre awesome-NO. STOP IT. STOP IT RIGHT NOW.
