Way too many slams for a promo.  Re-edit please.

Yeah I agree. I think your video would get a lot more  positive publicity if you highlighted snippets of some of the gnarliest landed tricks in the trailer.

I see where both of you are coming from. However I disagree.  About half of the video consist of various bails/random clips and the other half are lands. Personally I think slams tend to make the final video more of a treat. Think of it as a commercial for a movie. Don't you hate when they give away all the funny parts of the movie in  the commercial? Same goes for tricks in a promo

Sadly, you are confused.  The whole point of a promo is to get people to watch the forthcoming full length video.  However, if your promo sucks, it is highly probable that your full length will suck as well.

If half of all of your footage is bails, then you really need to continue filming until you have more makes.  Simple as that.

Nobody wants to watch a video that is half bails.  Nobody.

If you don't want other peoples' opinions, then don't post your shit on the internet.

Enjoy your short lived success.

Right, its an opinion. So don't try to make it sound like a fact. Everyone has different taste. I posted it online for people who have similar taste to enjoy it, and for constructive criticism. By the way, there's a way to express an opinion without sounding like an arrogant prick, get over yourself.

Randy, you're blowing it.

I thought the promo made it look pretty good. Some good skaters pulling some pretty big stuff. But with the amount of slams, it made me wonder if the final video would be worth watching. EOH3000 said exactly the same thing, without patting you on the back first. Straight to the point advice. Don't get so hurt about the way he said it, since you did come here asking for advice.

I was bummed on the bails too that's why I didn't blog it. If the full length is good I'll blog that.

Whenever a video or part starts with a bail I am always bummed on it, no matter who it is. That's why I don't put that many bails in my videos anymore, it took a while for me to find out that I hate them

Come to think of it I have never watched one "Hall of Meat". Bails are for the jock kooks who don't know anything about skateboarding and want to see people get fucked up on Reality TV... just my opinion

I think it looks pretty good.  Call me an old man but I like a little park/transition/pool/bank action mixed in for good measure and I didn't see any.  I assume there won't be any in the full length and I am not complaining but that would typically make me think twice about adding it to my collection.

As far as bails/slams go I am all for them and not because I am some blood thirsty dick who can't find a way to beat off to his old “Faces of Death” VHS tapes now that I have a Blu-Ray.  I think mixing some solid bails into a video is a good thing because it better depicts the reality of skating.  Eating shit is a part of the deal and slams show that the dudes had to bleed for whatever it was they were trying to do and that makes me respect them and the trick even more. Taking a beating, maintaining a good attitude and coming back for more are the attributes of a man worth his salt.

Ya it's just my opinion. I have a lot of rules about stuff you can do at my house but the first rule is "rules are meant to be broken". So even if something ticks me off I don't really care anyways...

I think what I'm really trying to say is that with editing you are trying to tell a story (which I have not perfected yet.) A good story has a beginning, a middle and a end, with maybe a coda. Stories build from various highs and lows and you peak that build at the end (banger.) Bails are the lows that help you build the peak. Starting off a story with a low is always a bummer to me, even if it's just a commercial for a longer story. That's just how I feel...

I don't hate the use of bails, it's just too many of them bore me. We all understand how much work it takes to film a part
