I know it's been beaten to death, but I really doubt they can pull off a good album theses days.

nothing but a time machine could make me give even half a shit about metallica anymore.
after the napster debacle, load, reload, the some kind of monster movie, and st. anger, i really can't be bothered.

i suppose if they had a witch doctor reanimate cliff, and did a tour where they played nothing but songs off of ride the lightning and kill 'em all, i might be interested, but currently, i just can't be bothered.

if you can't get along well enough to make a record anymore, you don't hire a fucking band therapist, you fucking break up and call it a day. leave at the top of your game- don't embarrass yourselves churning out sub-par recordings, just stop.

I concur.

Its better to leave them (the fans) wanting more than wishing they had gotten less.

How are they supposed to retire with only a billion dollars each in the bank?

Now it's just a battle between them and the Rolling Stones to see who hangs it up first.

Probably AC/DC.

I've been listening to a lot of Megadeth and it struck me that, aside from missing Cliff, Metallica lost a lot when they Kicked Mustaine out.  Bad moves.  Get rid of your best songwriter and then kill your bass player.

They should totally change the name of the band to New Metallica, retroactive to the black album.

I heard the new album and will say that it actually sounded slightly better than the last few shit bombs. but all that basically means is that its still only 3 levels above a steaming pile of shit.

That's about all they've been playing on Sirius Hard Attack, geez.

and AC/DC has a new album coming out, so that's all they have been
playing on Sirius punk.

welp, I'll be off in my room listening to Joy Division.

well i downloaded their new album like 4 days before it was released and so far they havn't tracked me down and beaten the shit out of me. but i have to say, their new album is pretty sick, it's not really comparable to any of their older shit, its like NEW metallica.

I'm going to DL the new album, cause I hear it's a Rick Ruben production rather than a Bob Rock  bomb...........

One of my best friends(Karl Schneider) sang for USV and he bought the album, we hung out all night and he said it (the new Metallica album) rages....... I'll find out for myself, but if the K-man says it's the goods, I gotta hope the best.

I'm jamming Jerrys Kids "Is This My World."   A great reason to hate the Fat/Epitaph bands. Name a band that wrote a song as epic as "Raise The Curtain."

Justice was decent enough and I won't argue that Dave might have been an equally destructive influence as much as he helped build them up.  So...point.  Still, once his song writing credits and Cliff disappeared, so did Metallica.  However, I do include Justice in their "good" repertoire.

As far as anyone talking about Bob Rock vs. Rick Rubin, you may as well be talking about having your dick cut off vs. having it chewed off.  Either way, you're stuck with New Metallica.

The albums crap. Long gone are the epic ragers like Orion, Master Of Puppets, Fade to Black, anything off the second and third albums. Where is the royal acoustic  Zepplinesque jams that made Metallica on Ride the Lightning and Masters....... Ooooo... Also, how bad did "Kill em All" Rage?

Is this new album good for Metallica? Yeah...., I guess, in comparison, but  from what I've heard so far it's a shitty rehash of "And Justice For All" (the first of the  shitty downfall albums).

Boring........
