When Tony Hawk won the first Skater of the Year award, someone -- who was it? Phelps? Thatcher? -- added "skater of the decade." I've been thinking about that lately. Who might have that title for each decade? Obviously for the 70s, it would be Tony Alva, the 1980s have Hawk, and the 90s go to Koston. That's my opinion, but it seems pretty clear-cut. So what about the 2000s? Chris Cole? Danny Way? Tony Trujillo? This is such a geeky topic that has no real answer.

And who might be nominated for title of the greatest of all-time? Hawk, Cab, Lance, Koston, and Cardiel? Rodney? All of this is written purely for the sake of being a complete fucking skateboarding geek.

There's no such thing as a "best skater ever". That is such a subjective statement to make. You will get a different answer from everyone, which is rad! It's so sick that everyone has different opinions on the riders that inspire them. I think the Best Skater of All Time is...... whoever you want it to be. No single person gets first place, everyone shares it. Personally, my favorite skaters are the ones who go un-named, un-sponsored or un-filmed. But there are some really popular guys out there who are killing it, even in their free time. I could name a hundred guys who I think are the "best", but I could never narrow it down. Not even to a top 10. Sorry for the complicated answer.

Totally! And there is no single greatest. It's all just fun to talk about. I enjoy hearing peoples' opinions and why they like who they do.

I'd have to throw Mullen in there, Jay Adams would be pretty high on my list.
Also Jason Jessee but that's mainly cos' he's a badass.
