I've been hurt for a while -- off my board for a while. The times I have been able to skate, I could only skate transitions. Today I went to our awesome street park. There's a series of ledges I like to roll down -- nothing spectacular, but it's fun. Today was an off day, and I had trouble keeping my board under my feet. I fell a lot. At one point I got so frustrated, that I wanted to put myself down and say, "I suck!"

It didn't happen. I figured saying bad things about oneself can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you tell yourself you're no good, you'll believe it. With that, I just skated other parts of the park.

If one aspect of skating isn't working for you, do something else. Ledge tricks not working? Skate transitions. Can't ollie that gap? Do some flatground tricks. Whatever you do, do something that works!

That's stupid!

You should just grab your ripstick and thrash.

It's very easy. Once skateboarding gets too hard you stop doing it and move on to something better!

I slammed pretty hard 2 weeks ago trying to land a boneless, resulting on a pretty bad broken wrist/hospital visit/loads of painkillers.

Personally I can't wait to get back on the board, don't let it get you down. I'm pretty sure I won't go back and go hard out. In my opinion skating is about starting small and getting bigger, so start a smaller trick and then build on it, the more you land it the more confidence you'll get and the bigger you'll go... The occasional slam is a part of that, keep at it and you'll pass that fear.

Like Jim Greco says "He who is afraid of slamming can't have the hammer"
