i think something that is just as important as building new spots, it freeing old spots that have been skate stopped in some way. this thread to share success stories of liberating spots. i'll go first.

i am sure that many of you have see footage of people skating the pyramid ledges in downtown manhattan.
http://www.quartersnacks.com/qs/spots/downtown/pyramidledges.php
(link still implies that it is stopped though that hasn't been the case for years)

well, about 5 years ago they decided to cap them with these gnarly stoppers that went into the cracks and were sealing in on top of the bolts. they were like that for about two years, until i popped them off:

this was a pretty hard thing to do though, since i did it myself in the middle of the night and the stoppers were no ordinary ones. the security guard from the building and walked by me twice. it took two hours of baby steps, but it finally paid off. i almost gave up after i got the first one off, but figured i might as well do both while i was at it.

once i was done, i got a couple grinds on it to break it in for the city and then broke out with the stoppers so they wouldn't find them and put them back on.

years later and they still haven't replaced them!

You little rebel you! Thats sick that they haven't replaced them though, must of finally seen it your way.

Theres a building next to the skate park in Troy, Michigan that has a few rails off of this four stair with skate stops on the rails. I wasn't really good at the time but I still managed to boardslide right over them after a few tries. It felt pretty good to do my first street rail on which wasn't allowed.

There was a spot our whole crew grew up skating, a sort of courtyard in this shopping plaza with a shitty four stair and this big planter you could grind as a ledge or as a high manny pad. Anyway the spot was a bust during the day because there was a security office right next to the planter. One day there was about 3 skate stoppers on the ledge all the way around. They were really badly installed and if you wiggled them enough they'd just pop out so we tore them all up on Christmas afternoon and left them in a big pile in front of the security office in a pool of piss. Don't fuck with the spots someone started skating at.

they haven't put them back on?

i advise taking them far away so that they can't reuse them. they are less likely to put them back if they have to order more or don't notice they are off.
