If your reasons for hating mind field are "dumb lifestyle shots" or "the parts are too short", then you have never watched an AWS video before and your opinion is irrelevant and useless.

every good video ever has had lifestyle shots and artsy stuff in it,
or shots OTHER than skating

when i think of dull videos i think of digital
or the fallen video
they have no personality at all it just feels like you are watching a movie made in hollywood, perfect spots, sunny in every single shot, and the SAME spots and same tricks...

my friend said "skateboarding hasnt really progressed much recently" but i think it has, there are a lot less handrail parts out now, and also it seems like companies are putting more effort into their videos. dudes are spending more time thinking up new ways to skate spots like not your standard big handrail parts. it was getting to the point where people would just start doing tricks down bigger and bigger stuff and it got played out pretty quick. now im seeing more shit like bigspin bs tail bigspin out, unique ledge combos that ive never seen before. also a lot of people are killing that double kink rail that arto bs lip ender... skating that in a unique way transferring into the bank and such. pappalardos manual kickflip or his ollie ollie kickflip ollie on the bank are what im talking about, spots people normally just say like "fuck this, i know where theres a perfect bank/manny pad" they are actually progressing skateboarding by doing it in new kinds of spots moreso than the guys who are just taking existing tricks and do them down bigger gaps.

I like mind field though, i was pretty much expecting it to come out the way it did. and almost everyone put out good parts.

i liked mind field, except if u took out all the artsy crap the video would have been like 15 minutes long, rather then an hour. it was to much art stuff...

yes, but you see, if you took out all the artsy stuff it would cease to be an alien workshop video.

such is the great paradox embroiled in this thread.

i've said it before, but basically watching too much skating without breaks makes you become desensitized to it. after a while it has less of an impact. it is called the law of marginal utility. you eventually get to a point of diminishing returns (basically, the more you consume, the less you enjoy it). that point in different for everyone, but trying to watch fully flared all the way through, by the time i get to marc johnson's part i am falling asleep. it is a much better video when i watch it in shorter segments. likewise, i can focus on any long video better when there is non-skate stuff breaking it up.

Brian Hansen's part was the shit.

yes, but you see, if you took out all the artsy stuff it would cease to be an alien workshop video.

The skating in Mind Field is the best I've ever seen in any video.  Omar especially.

The art direction, however, reminds me more of a snowboarding video than a skate video.  Very focused and tight, not as reckless as skate videos.

If this video did anything for me, it got me into Animal Collective, so for that I am grateful.

im kinda impressed with how stupid that comment was about how skate videos are better if they have less skating in them... did i by a skate video to see robot beatles or did i buy it so see someone shred?
and fully flared made u go to sleep by the end cause only like 4 people skate differently on lakai so after seeing 500 smith grind flip trick out or whatever u were just as bored as i was. the video would have been awsome if it went

beible
koston
mariano
johnson
credits

I know it seems like i only wanted to see the big name guys, but everyone else skated like the french conection guys... and i didnt give half a fuck about those dudes

I was playing COD:WOW & I told this one guy to stop being a little bitch. Well, I wasn't aware that this douche lived down the street and he busted into my friend's place & pulled a gun on us. The fucker didn't realize that he was outnumbered so we took his gun & threw his ass out.
