Phelper - Have you ever seen or heard of any pros crying (literally) after they didn't win a contest or place well???  I think I heard a rumour about Sheckler crying recently, but I'm more interested in the 80's/90's pros.  Cry

wait for it.
cause I know the messages are gonna come in like, What the hell Gonz cried, that's so gay. Well truth be told Gonz isn't the gnarliest guy around, I mean he smokes cigarres and wears designer clothes and socks.
When he was younger he was heavily into contests, so yeah. I guess what I'm saying is if your really are focused on something and you don't succeed you might get emotional. I wouldn't, but the dude can kinda justify it by the time period, when he was struggling to make it his job. Where as now it's a lot easier to survive as a skater. Plus it's not like he was hyped up because of a badass reputation or nothing. It's the fact that he produce a lot of great stylish video parts and founded a lot tricks is what really make him stand out.
He separated himself from others with creativeness and originality which shadowed any embarrassing past moments.

Danny Way cried his little eyes out as a 14 or 15 year old in the NSA Western Regional am contests in 1991 or so in Mountain View. He tried but couldn't make the 540 in his runs, bailed, and missed the cut to go to nationals. This was the contest where he learned the ollie blunt after seeing Aaron Deeter do it in the street contest. He was a spoiled kid, but nobody can talk shit on what he does these days.

Did Seaholm tantrum himself out of the industry? What was the story. I never heard anything other than "He threw a fit"

i saw gator crying under the hurricane ramp at the 1989 Shut Up And Skate in houston.  not sure why; he made the cut and placed 5th, i think.  maybe he thought he shoulda won... maybe he was just worn out.  or maybe he knew he was about to blow it for life soon.

In 85 Mark Gonzales was 18, so he wasn't a baby. Besides Mark, I know that Danny Way cried after not making the cut at a San Diego am contest, but that was so long ago. The most famous/pathetic crying had to have been Austin Seahom after it was announced he got third at Tampa about 5-6 years ago, maybe 2003? He must've thought he wn or something with his little noseslide tailslide transfers and when he got third he waited like 30 seconds to come get it, had tears in his eyes he was so upset, and threw his trophy into the crowd and went out back and sobbed...

I thought Seaholm was gone, but I saw something about him recently.  I can't remember what it was for the life of me, but that dude should give it up.  After what he did at Tampa, his career as a skateboarder should be ended.  I mean the dude gets 2nd place at Tampa Pro and throws a fit about it.  Come on.  You just beat out so many other people and you're complaining.  Someone should have whipped his ass that day.

I cried once when Moms told me skateboarding was a waste of my life.  But I'm okay now.  Sort of.
