I play guitar and drums as well. I started playing drums 2 years ago, and i recently picked up guitar and fell in love with it. Been playing every day since January. Do you play acoustic or electric?

People still play ska?

I bought so much of that shit when I was younger...Moon Ska stuff.  Ugh.  Lots of junk, looking back.  Some good stuff though.

I like ska up until the Specials era. Would that have been 3rd wave ska? But all that 90's pop punk/ska can suck it.

Disagree.  Operation Ivy/Streetlight Manifesto/King Apparatus/etc. many other decent bands, just a LOT of really bad bands too.  I recommend the Adjusters, too...very good soul/funk influenced ska and reggae, one of the few 3rd wave bands whose music I still listen to.  And of course the Pietasters...Turbo, Oolooloo, some of Awesome Mixtape #6

You'll like this then. Would you consider it unnecessary?

Quote
{ 01/01/09 } Pietasters to play "PIESTOMP" in its entirety for Jan. 10th State Theatre show.

For the first time ever, The Pietasters will be performing their debut 1993 album, "Piestomp" in its entirety for their January 10th appearance at The State Theatre. This marks the first time in over a decade many of these classic tracks have been played live by the band. Also appearing will be Lionize and Buster Brown and the Get Down.

I saw the Pietasters open for SNFU and thought they were decent.

But I prefer my ska like this.....

Hell yes, it's unncessary!  Even to Pietasters fans...how many of them own Piestomp?  Not many.  I'd rather hear a good mixed up set by them.

both.

old ska is better, but that doesnt mean that new ska bands suck.  I saw streetlight manifesto a few weeks ago when they came to atlanta with reel big fish.  Streetlight played an awesome show, but rbf was decent.

I'm currently learning my eighth instrument right now - the drums. I started out with guitar for four years, then bass for two, already knowing the harmonica/banjo/mandolin/dulcimer and also taking up the saxophone. I can do some vocals too. I'm in a hardcore/punk/thrash band right now, and lately have been jamming with some friends of mine and might start something.
