it was bad enough companies like nike, red bull, monster and mountain dew had to throw their greedy little hats in the skateboard/sponsorship world, but now here comes Gatorade with their fucking commercials depicting Chaz Ortiz being mesmerized by Muhammad Ali or their ad of him sweating "tropical splash" after grinding a rail and more recently their newest "athlete" Sean Malto with a nollie heel (i think) down a double set (again, i think, it went kinda fast) being shown in a commercial montage that included the likes of Dwayne Wade and........... ughhh......... beach volleyball, what i want to know is when is it going to be enough? We put up with Dyrdek and Sheckler on MTV (and now J-Rog on TMZ), pre-supra TK with his ice creams and jewelry, and not to mention the fucking Dew Tour, but when do we start calling people out for their suspect if not completely bullshit sponsors?

Wow, dude you keep it real.  Why would anyone be so "core" they turn down sponsors? If I could get jing for skating I'd be all over it. You would too, unless you like being stuck in the 9-5 rut.

cool. i'm calling bulldozer rental places right now to start tearing marginal way down.

knowing that some dude i've never even met is getting a check from gatorade has made skateboarding no fun at all.

thanks for the heads up, WFSG. you've really helped us dodge a bullet. maybe now you could take that bullet and use it to kill yourself.

I guess I'll rally the troops together to tear down Burnside... It's a shame skateboarding is being destroyed because people like gatorade sponsor skateboards. I mean they definitely arent throwing money at the skate community. WFSG, Like i've said to you in the past, please think before you write something so retarded. Im sure your parents, teachers, and friends have all told you this.

Well pro skaters are not gonna be pro skaters forever and if they dont have something else to do except skating they have to make enough money for the rest of their lives. This is the reason i wouldnt turn down any offers from lame sponsors as long as they wouldnt make me look like a jock.
So the fellow pro skaters have to be really careful with the contracts.

You guys can call them sellouts and shit and most of you dont even have to bother about money because you get pocket money from parents. When and if you get in the real world and get the first shitty job you will understand.

Like Sam Smyth and Snickers?

And skateboardings "cool", mainstream media's words not mine. Everyone from Zac Efron to Matt McConaughey has been seen on a board. I mean, we cannot blame companies such as Gatorade or Monster. These companies are expanding and trying to further reach their target audience. We, the Thrasher Boards, cannot specifically say who can and who cannot skate. Sure, we can hate on those we offend us, but just remember that they're still there.
