Sad. I haven't heard a thing about it.

He was part of the OG Zoo York crew.

Andy was stung by a bee today in Montauk and had an allergic reaction that killed him.  He was a unbelievable human being and will be missed in the skate world and every other circle he traveled in.  Every day can be your last do some shit.  RIP Andy Kessler

yes, unfortunately this is true...

Andy was apparently stung by a wasp today in Montauk. He unfortunately later went into cardiac arrest and passed away. Keith heard about it and I called Ivory Serra, who confirmed. So it is unfortunately true.

After surfing great waves in LB last Friday evening after the wind switched, I packed up the van and drove out to Kessler's place, pulling in the driveway at 1:00 AM. He was already asleep and I slept in the van, as planned. We surfed a lesser known spot with Patrick Falco and later another spot closer to Ditch. The waves were good and Kessler took off on some micro-bombs on his Tudor!

Later we had an incredible VW bus BBQ courtesy of Bill and Keith in the dirt lot until dark. A few weeks earlier we did the same. Andy was very happy out in Montauk on the weekends and he was surfing great. He was also still skating hard.  Kessler was alway looking out for his friends and I am grateful that we became good friends. I will always remember his generosity in letting me surf his new custom CC slider sans kook chord in the midst of the ditch goof crowd. His tiny Chinatown kite was a blast, as well. He apparently purchased 50-100 of these to give out to the kids in either the DR or Costa Rica a while back (I forget exactly). That's the kind of person he was. Andy was 48.

Keith, Bill, Kessler, and I were planning a surfing camping weekend. Unfortunately, that will never happen. But we'll remember Andy and slide a few for him...

we have a thread here with photos old and new and some links...Kessler was well-known in the New York surf community and he had been surfing quite a bit in the last few years. Please feel free to stop by and leave a comment...you won't get any  junk email or any other BS...or just stop by to see the photos
