So i'm going out to oregon for two weeks with family to visit family.  First we go to tigard and the portland area cause thats my dads hometown. Then we are driving to lincoln city and up the beach.  Then we are going to seattle to visit my aunt. then hailey idaho to visit another aunt.  Then we come back to around portland.
I'm definitely planning on skating tigard park and burnside (maybe west linn or peir park) while we are in tigard.  Then Lincoln City (looks sick).  In seattle marginal way or lower woodland(from pictures lower woodland looks amazing).  Going out to idaho hopefully redmond oregon, ketchum and hailey idaho parks. Any suggestions on parks that are good along this route would be apreciated because i don't know anyone out there who skates.

a dude that used to live here in seattle named dan hughes put together a pretty good list of parks in this area.... he's a 40-something bowl dude, so the coverage is pretty one sided, but there's really good information there.

www.northwestskater.com

there's also www.skateoregon.com which is pretty good.

and if you make it up to marginal, please write, "hi! my name is cheesgrater" on your griptape so i can say hello. also while in seattle, hit the bellevue plaza and the crossroads bowl, which are right near one another. duval is super fun, the ballard bowl is fun, but very standard issue, greenlake is pretty good but overflowing with shitty kids on everything BUT skateboards, and the new seattle center plaza is worth hitting, as long as you get there early before the army of 2mph ledge warriors show up.

pm me with where you'll be staying in seattle, and i'll hook you up with directions. DO NOT TRUST MAPQUEST OR A GPS IN SEATTLE. numerous construction projects have fucked everything up.

thanks, if you see a 6 foot 2 teenager with a tie dye toy machine graphic and shoe gooed fallens (regular foot) then thats me.  I ll try to wear a ramones shirt if i go to marginal way cause i just realized the description above is pretty generic. That skateoregon site is really good. If i told my family i was writing cheesegrater on my board so that people i met online could recognize me they would think i'm a creep.

I've spent many years in that part of the country.  Do you know what route you are taking from Seattle to the Hailey/Ketchum area?  My guess is that you are going to cross Washington through Spokane, over to Missoula and then down through the mountains to Hailey, or at least this is what I would recommend doing, both for its senic value and because the Missoula park is one of the all time favorite things I've ever skated.  Try to get your family to take a day driving from Seattle to Missoula, stay there and then take a driving from the Missoula to Hailey.  When you are in Idaho, you might want to try to sell your family on barbequing one day out at the Little Wood Reservoir, about 45 min from Hailey.  There is a really fun perfect-if-somewhat-rough concrete wave you can skate at the reservoir's spillway, there are barbeque's there, and plenty of hiking around to be done.  This is also a good place to camp.
On your way back to Portland, try to make pit-stops in Boise and Hood River.  In Boise, they re-did the park under the bridge, and its supposed to be pretty fun, and they built a plaza type park in Meridian maybe, I forget exactly what my friend told me, but you should be able to look it up online and decide what you want to skate.  There is also this rest stop right outside of Boise-coming from Hailey-which has all these perfect ledges, but will be a bust when the attendant makes his round.   Anyway, you can do that drive pretty much in a day and break it up with stops in those places.  Its maybe a little more scenic going from Boise through Bend to Portland, but then you miss Hood River.
Around P-town you may also want to check out Aumsville.
Have fun out there, and if you skate Missoula, do a big creamy powerslide on the boob for me.

Just got back- I skated Tigard, Burnside, Newberg, Hood River, Lincoln City and Hailey.  It was really fun.  Lincoln City is huge. Burnside and Tigard flow so well and the locals were really friendly at both. I went to Redmond but there was some contest going on so I couldn’t skate.  Watermelon I got your message after going so it was too late to stop myself.  Didn’t mean to creep anyone out by describing myself, it seemed like a good idea at the time as opposed to writing cheese grater on my board.  Lots of things seemed like a good idea at the time. . .
