So my laptop overheated and melted a couple of spots making it inoperable. I call last week and they say they'll have the safety team make the choice on fixing it, the first operator says it shouldn't be a problem. They call back and tell me to call them back to make arrangements to have it shipped back. I call back today and they say they don't know anything about it. I bitch and have the operator talk to her supervisor, my guess is they listened to the recordings of my previous calls. She's got me on hold and the song playing, ironically enough, is "All By Myself" lol
She gets back and and starts apologizing saying the operators on first two calls gave me misinformation and if I wanted it fixed I could send them $575.00. I only paid $550.00 I got pissed when she said I couldn't talk to anyone higher than her and hung up.

Anyone ever deal with the Better Business Bureau?

Damn that sucks.  How did it melt?  I have the same model issued from work.... I don't really care about it per say but I would be bummed if it melted while I was working from home!

I think the AC jack shorted out. That, and the fans are known to overheat as well to.

Keep calling back until you get the answer you are looking for.  I work in customer service, and the more you bug me, the more apt I am at giving you what you want so I don't have to hear from you ever again.

and be sure to pepper the conversation with phrases like "i know you're just doing your job, and i don't mean to be short with you, but this situation has me pretty frustrated." a little politeness goes a long way when dealing with phonebots.

So I've been trying to send the bastards at IBM pics in hopes they'll see my side on getting my laptop fixerated.



That's the melt that burned right thorough my sheets and caused this burn.

So I sent them a letter through the BBB and got a call from one of the board members at the company, now they're going to overnight my laptop back to them and check the damage and probably end up sending me a new laptop.

Thanks Dan, I got the email today saying they weren't going to replace it but they'd fix it for free. I can't really bitch about that.
