It should be noted that tax money is not currently coming in from the sales of marijuana since drug dealers aren't generally in the habit of claiming their income.  Actually, I think that point was made earlier but I'm too lazy to go back and read or even erase what I've already typed.

The crime angle is a fun one.  Not only does it free up jail space for people who are actually committing violent crimes, it should reduce crime wherever there are still turf wars over dealing and growing operations.  Prohibition caused a shit ton of gang violence and keeping marijuana illegal is having a similar if not lower level effect.
