That would be a sad day if George Powell started selling at Wal-Mart.

from skatedaily (http://skatedaily.net/):

Quote
Earlier this week, we’d reported that Skatelab has licensed its name to Walmart with select merchandised goods. And while some might see this as a “sell out” move, to be fair, we obtained a short Q&A from Todd Huber, the skatepark’s founder and skater behind the brand. He puts the matter to the public as follows:

Have you experienced any blowback from core Skatelab customers about your brand being in a big-box store?
Why would my customers give a shit? I think by now everyone knows it is almost impossible to build and keep a private indoor skatepark running and we have been doing it the right way for almost 12 years. I think my “core” customers know that all of our profits go right back into improving the skatepark so they will support it. People instantly think big money, but if you know us (me and my partner Scott Radinsky) then you know it is not about the money, it’s about the Skatepark and always has been. Shit, I drive a rusty 1980 P200 Vespa everywhere.
Thanks for the clarification, your standpoint, and your dedication to skateboarding Todd. Be sure to drop by Skatelab for a session and a good look at its comprehensive skateboard museum (Simi Valley, CA location), it’s truly second to none.
