The one thing I do like about wood/metal ramps is that you can basically rape your wheels and not get as many flatspots.

they arn't half as good as any cement parks.. but there ok as long as your with some friends and whatnot they usually have pretty good mini ramps. im always down for skating a mini! i live in a town with no skatepark either so im happy if im skating a metal park or cement im juss stoked to go somewhere to skate!!

For the past 5 years, I lived in Northern Vermont and my only option in the winter was Talent Skatepark, an indoor park in Burlington.  It's only 10,000 sq. feet, and it is mostly metal, with the exception of the skatelite bowl.  It's got everything you need, even for the tranny skaters.  That shit is so fun because it's so slippery and sketchy and tightly packed together.  Some of my favorite sessions consisted of flying around going as fast as I could, dogding little kids, thinking quickly, and just squeezing every little bit of fun out of that place.  Life is what you make it and the same goes for skating!  I personally think that metal is just as fast if not faster than concrete.

Whatever, skateboarding is fun, no matter the surface.

Concrete is awesome, however, supporting a local business and friends is also.  There are several DIY projects happening in VT right now, but when there's 3 feet of snow on the ground and it's cold as fuck out side, you go and shred where everybody knows your name and there's a bowl, mini, micro, pool cope, and a "steet course".

The bottom line is that you make due with what you can.
