Grant Taylor SOTY? Really?

lol..... you guys forget we live in a "SKATE 3" era now where your skill is measured by how many switch Laser Flips you can get in a row.  Speed and style and doing your own thing is no longer important (hopefully you all picked up on the sarcasm)     

I got into this same discussion with a 12 year old the skate park the other day.  He was 12..... enough said.

Does anyone else feel that GT dicked so many other better candidates for SOTY out of the title? For me it was Nyjah, and not to suck him off like everyone does so much recently, but because his video part was ACTUALLY groundbreaking. GT put out a part that Chet Childress would have bested five years ago, didn't get near the same coverage, and all around didn't push skateboarding forward like Nyjah did. I wouldn't even mind someone like Torey Pudwill or Shane O'Neill receiving the award because again, they've actually done things within the skateboarding community...is there something I'm not understanding? GT is so sick but I legitimately don't feel like he deserved SOTY this year over so many others, call me a hater. I feel like I could be overlooking something...

Grant Taylor is pure fucking ripping. He's fucking possessed. Look at what he does when he skates. Destroys. Fucking. Everything. You are overlooking something. SOTY is given to a skater that made a mark and embodies what Thrasher is all about. Cards. Would you deny Cardiel's SOTY trophy or constant accolades? You don't think someone accomplished more technical street skating the year Cards won SOTY? Do you understand why Cards won SOTY? This isn't baseball. If you can't see this side of things you are in the wrong "sport", sport.

Nailed it. As much as I thought Busenitz earned it the past couple years, GT embodies the SOTY far more than Nyjah, Tpuds or Shane. SOTY is about fire, soul... attacking and destroying shit. Style. Don't get me wrong, those street leaguers have jaw dropping next level skill and i love watching them...but skill alone won't get you SOTY.

To the other asshole who hides behind his alias, at least I got the balls to stand by what I think to the extent of putting my name on it. To everyone, I understand, dont agree at all but that's why skatings not in the olympics (OR ONLINE). You know it's actually an outdoor sport? Some of y'all might not know, just saying. But GTs Nike part was something like what I hoped to see, gnar. But, nyjah still one ups him on the DC rediscover shit nosegrind in through kinks while grants over here fiftying em.
