Yikes...okay, here we go.

I can understand veganism as a response to shady food processing practices and wanting to stand up to awful food corporations who, essentially, are attempting to poison us.  I can understand, to a certain extent, the idea of having empathy for our fellow creatures on this planet and not wanting to enjoy them on a consumption level.  However, I can't understand why so many of them have copped such a holier than thou attitude.  I also can't understand why they would undertake such a meticulous diet that forces you to be very careful about what you eat, not just to avoid animal products, but to make sure you get all of your proper nutrition when most of the vegans I know still haven't figured out bathing and grooming.  Plus, I hate the titles that people give themselves.  As though one aspect of someone's life sums them up, completely.  I, for instance, do not describe myself to people as an anti-corporate nut-job with severe flaws and radical political leanings.  That makes me sound like an asshole.

All that having been said, most of what I say on here should not be taken too personally or seriously for two reasons:

1)  This is a message board.  One where people give each other shit, all the time.
2)  If, for some reason, I am being serious, It'll be some long, drawn out diatribe, like the one above.

i will not ruin this thread with this debate, but i will address a few things. you realize the trouble stereotyping get you into right? good. you are comedian, so i will forgive you on that front. i am glad that you know vegans, i hardly know any, so i can't confirm or rebut any of the generalization besides the fact that i myself bath and groom regularly. i do concern myself with nutrition, as i think everyone should, omnivores or not. i do not call myself a vegan, but am vegan (pronoun over noun) because you are right, titles are meaningless. however, being such says a lot about someone's character and ideals and is worth pointing out with like-minded people. i don't know who these people you know are, but i do not look down on non-vegans, i hardly bring it up in conversation because most people are insecure and defensive about eating meat and/or dairy and try to defend themselves to me when i never asked or questioned their diets. i simply mentioned that i don't eat cheese, thus can't have the pizza ordered for the meeting. i don't care if you "can never give up meat/cheese/whatever." that is your issue, i didn't ask. people are stupid about the issue and i, frankly, have mostly given up even talking about it anymore, thus i don't bring it up unless it is to draw a comparison or a situation arises where i need to...because there are only so many times you can have the same conversation/argument.
