I believe it's called a french drain. basically you dig a hole line it and fill it with 3/4" rocks so the water has a place to go. set the drain cover in place for the pour so the water has a way to channel to the rocks and drain. pretty simple and effective.

You can also bury a 5 gallon bucket with 3" rock inside, and surround it with gravel to do a french drain. Attach pvc to the top and mount the grate on it.
