Hi. I'm 32. I still skate... or maybe I started skating again, depending on how you look at it.

I started at 15, sucked for four years, stopped when I was 18 because drugs and alcohol (and frustration), started again at 20, sucked a little less when I was in my early 20's (thanks to living in San Francisco), stopped when I was 23, started again at 25, stopped when I was 26, started again at 28, and then finally stopped again at 29 besides for transportation (I gave up on doing tricks and going to spots/parks) and then started skating "for real" again last month. My 7 year old daughter skates with me now. I'm psyched to have a skate homie again.

I debated even posting here because there are a bunch of pros who are well over 30 as well as just regular skaters. I really didn't think about my age until now, but I figured if you're taking roll, I might as well.

Oh, and maybe it's just because I've only been out of skating for three years, but I used to hear people say that it takes longer to recover from falls when you're old. I fell hard several times last night and it doesn't feel any different than how it did when I was younger.

Jay, That's awesome. I'm 44 and just got back into it last Sept after not skating since my mid 20's. Got back into it after my kids started. I here you about skating with your kid it is great. Love taking them to the parks around hear. I'm having a great time with them and it's something we can do together, got my son in lessons and he's progressing ever day. So fun to see them so stoked on it.

Got ampped on it after watching some Local guys hear on you tube who are my age and older and still ripping, figure I got many years to skate as long as I stay strong and healthy. Wish I never stopped but stoked that I'm back at it. Don't mind the hard falls either makes me feel young not Old!!!

I'm about to be 36.  I skate every day. I work at a skate shop/park so that helps out.  I started when I was in second grade.  My first board was one from Ames.  It was a Valterra board with a dragon on the bottom of it. I still own it even though it's beat down.  It's the first thing you see when you walk into my house. I'll never forget just bombing hills as a kid learning how to just stay on.  That first time getting down the hill was the best feeling ever.  And learning how to ollie was like this perfect gift. Kids these days spend way too much time trying to become trick machines, that they forget the fun of just riding and carving, and even the simple act of popping onto the curb and off.  Just give me a boom box and a curb and I am good to go for hours.   We have Old Man sessions at the park I work at and it's always fun to skate with the older rippers.  Seeing them destroy the bowl is the best stoke!  Just keep rolling.  Who cares if you are the old dude at the skate park who can just ride around as long as you are on that board that’s all that matters!

I'm 50 this year, skated since 1977, never gave up and no -I can't do an inward, nollie heel flip disaster nosebleed puree wankburger. I still get out there though, and teach kids at the local park. Amazing how many of them are trying inward, nollie heel flip disaster nosebleed puree wankburgers but can't do kickturns both ways. Just sayin' However - this got me thinking (a dangerous thing) and now I'm writing a book on adult skateboarding. Go figure. I need help from all you older types though. I have an online survey out to ask about your skating habits and how they've changed as you got older at http://bit.ly/Z8R4EK . Filling this out will give me a lot more info so I can make sure what I'm writing about is not BS. Spare me a couple of minutes and head over there and answer some questions will ya? Thanks. Lee.

Hell yeah, if you're rollin' you're winnin', end of story.  I'll be 39 on Friday, IDGAF.  Hey, this seems like an appropriate place to ask this question: what's the average time for a gnarly hipper to die down?  I got broke off last Saturday, still looks like I've got a rainbow-colored 3rd butt cheek.  Skate Or Die!

are you a real person?

great to see some more old guys posting about how ugly and gross they feel about still having to push around some useless kids toy.

someone at work asked me the other day about slams and the healing process, as well as if i see myself stopping.  i told them that if i were to stop, i would go quickly, like this guy.

I'm 43 yrs old and just started skating with my nephew. I'm having a great time and sorry I Waited so long. I don't care if I can't do crazy tricks cruisin around is fine with me. To bad some of the kids just can't enjoy and have fun instead of being douche bags. Anyway if old people skating turn your stomach I'll let ya in on a secret, us old people still have sex too even ole grandma and grandpa. How's your stomachs feeling now? lol
