Umm, I'm pretty sure I know what I've worn and what I haven't worn...and I've never worn Airwalks. My first pair were Etnies.

I recently bought a pair of Etnies on sale and they fuckin' blow.  Very little cushion and what little there is had a big hunk of glue stuck under it in the heel.  After I chiseled the glue out of each of 'em they are a little more comfortable, but not much.

Exactely.  I just opened the shop, and so I am dirt poor.  All I carry right now are NS/OS decks, trucks, wheels, asst. hardware, bearings, and t-shirts.  No shoes yet, but Vox is comming in the spring.

I'm old.  When I say "recently" I'm talking about a year ago.

Of course, none of this changes the fact that Etnies blow.

P.S.  here are some pics so ya can see what I'm up to.

I have a pair of Vox Blender pros.  They have last me a while, just as long if not longer than any of the shoes i skated in the past.  Most vulcanized shoes are pretty much the same.

i would totally support a skateshop in a barn, especially if it smelled like one!

grandma looks like a mongo pusher = potential mind changer on that issue.

Vans are the best.  I've worn nothing but Vans since, uhhhh, 2001?  Yah 2001.  I saw the black leather perforated checkerboard slip ons and had to have them.  I started skating them and I've never turned back.  I think that the era's and the half cabs are the two best skate shoes ever made.  I had a pair of suede era's this summer that lasted me 3 months of skating.

Everything else is to fancy, to flashy, with gimmicky crappy soles.

You don't have to break them in, the sole is basically the same amazing grippy texture along the entire length of the shoe, and they are simple and cheap.  What more can you ask for?  And the vault and syndicate designs are amazing!  I'll be wearing Vans at my wedding for sure, whenever that day comes.
