I have a room in my house that is 12X10' with 100" ceiling and I plan to build a mini ramp in it.  One wall will have coping and the other will be a wall ride. My question is how deep should I make the platform? I know from the tip of the nose of my favorite board to the back truck is 22 inches but since i need room, I'm guessing a 16" deck will be fine.

Any suggestions or comments?

it will be tight eitherway. how tall are you going to make it? and are you building it 12' long and 10' wide or vice versa?

12' long 10' wide meaning I'll have ten feet of coping. I'm planing on making the side with coping at 30" tall so I don't have to duck much. I'm guessing of using a 6 foot radius for tranny and using my hard wood floor as the flat bottom to save ceiling height.

I measured 16" against a wall and tried to stand in that space, it's possible but uncomfortable. At 18" from the wall it's much more comfortable, so I might go 17" just to save an inch of flat bottom haha. I have a big closet that I can use as a waiting area if I have friends over but it goes the opposite direction of the platform.

I guess I'm asking if anyone has experience skating a ramp with a small deck, and what was their take on it?

make the deck big enough  to properly deck rock and rolls, or your ramp sucks.

Is it really that satisfying doing a rock&roll on a 30" ramp?

If I put a 22" deck with coping on one side, and a wall ride on the other, both with 6' trannys in a 12 foot room I'll have no flat bottom.

I'm looking for a compromise... I don't want my tiny bedroom ramp to suck as much as a tiny bedroom ramp could.

I pick up the wood tomorrow... the best part... it's all FREE!

Thanks for the help guys

If you can't do rock n rolls and disasters, it's not a ramp.

Worse than that, they had sawhorses and a circular saw and instead they're using a sawzall to cut 2x4s.
