I'm the same way, I understand BUT saying that Chris Cole and P Rod straight up suck or shouldn't be pro is dumb. I won't watch them but I don't say that "they're nothing special" because they are "something special." What I don't get is, in the 90's when someone did a really fucked up trick everyone would be stoked on it and now when someone does a fucked up trick people rag on them and call them jocks and "nothing special."

i don't think that is what people are saying. ridiculous is still ridiculous. i think anyone can appreciate that...however, not all parts have 100% ridiculous tricks. the rest are good tricks that just seem like slightly different variations of the same things...but on boring spots. nollie flip crooks are sick, but seeing them down a bunch of different handrails get boring...but the trick can still be wowing if done on new and different things. prod was celebrated when he first came out, but his trick selection just didn't really change. he tighted them up and maybe did them bigger or switch, but he hasn't really progressed outside of technical ability. chris cole has though. i don't think anyone is going to deny his bs 360 down love. can anyone think of any stand out tricks from prod? i can't think of anything off hand, and i think that is the problem. he is good just not memorable for a lot of long time skaters...but he does work well with the youngins.

Not everyone was stoked about what went on in the 90s.   Especially the early 90s.    In fact it was one of the last time it all "died".     So hatred has existed in skated from the get go.    I don't like Cole or to watch him but that's just me.    As in the 90s I.E.  there were old dudes saying wow when Dave Mayhew did that switch hardflip it was fucking terrible.....and his shoes are whack too.    Some of those judgement calls were spot on.   Some were just bitter old farts full of jealousy.     But really its all opinion.    Which is why its stupid as hell to be arguing over why you like Nike to people that don't like Nike.    Don't get me wrong cause I like some of there shoes and have skated plenty of pairs.     But seriously your like a Democrat trying to convert a Republican of vice versa.    Just let it go...you like something other people don't.    Who fucking cares.

And finally, how did your shoe thread become a forum for you to discuss your "switch noseboners and tre la vi slides" and how you're the person that knows the degree of difficulty from flat ground freestyle to vert airs and all the tricks in between.    Get a grip kid....no one cares what tricks you've done.    They're for kids silly.

I get called a jock because I progress in skateboarding. I can do tricks but watching myself skate is unbearable. Bombing a hill still feels better than some ledge trick. I just feel that by progressing while having fun at the same time, I kind of make skateboarding much more fun for me because I have a variety of things that I can try. i'm not a jock. I don't skate to impress girls, I'd rather have them not know that I skate at all. I don't like playing games of skate with random kids who treat it like a serious competition. I just hate people like stewpidphuck and malinas, they rag on me and others for every little thing that isn't anti-conformist as fuck. I'll list my favorite skaters and they'll say I'm a kook jock who's taste in skaters is butchered from the slap boards. They assume that they are true skateboarders and I'm not. Noone spends 1/3 of their life skateboarding and doesn't love doing it. Malinas feels that he's the only 15 year old who skates for the right reasons, he's not. Many 15 year olds have the same taste in skaters, most teenagers these days are into style more than tricks. I can't name a single 13-16 year old that I know who's been skating for more than 3 years that isn't into the Pappalardos, the silas baxter neals, the jake johnsons, the heath kircharts and all those types. I don't know how skaters are in San Diego, I know the "kook" factor with kids is pretty high in NYC, maybe it's even worse in San Diego and that's what Malinas and stewpid are surrounded by everyday.

I guess you have a point but how about Vincent Alvarez and those guys who keep doing fakie bigspin/270 lipslide/boardslide variations? I like Vincent but it does get kind of old after a while. All his tricks seem to involve a fakie blunt, a lipslide, a 270, a boardslide, a fakie bigspin or a bluntslide....
