i started 2 years ago when i was 19. my 10 yr old brother actually got me going. i would  occasionally bring him 2 the skatepark cuz he was nuts about skating and my parents wouldnt take him and id maybe cruise around on his board for a few minutes but then i realized fuck it im not gonna do it for him anymore, im gonna do it for me. so my only friend that skated gave me an old setup and ive been hooked ever since. im still not that good  but i have never enjoyed something so much that i sucked at

^my first board. 1975

my second board is on the wall downstairs at hsp.

the board I rode in the newark contest is also on there.

hey Schmitty, how about getting a photo of that thing with all the boards on it and post it up?

I was given a skateboard when I was 9.  That would have been about 1979.

I just goofed around in my driveway on it though....  didn't start really skating hard and building shit (QPs, launch and wave ramps and half pipes) until 1984.

yeah, I got my first board when I was like 7.  It was a kmart special
yellow with a tiger painted on bottom,  a big wide bastard, it was great!

Nope, mine wasn't a Laguna Gran Prix.
California Free Former I think, I've been trying to find it online. Green with a rough surface on the plastic top.

I kinda figured you didnt have a LGP because I've never seen another one. everybody rode Grentec's. you sure yours wasnt one of those? I've never seen a free former in anything other than yellow.

They came in blue, red and some swirly color as well. I think mine was the swirly colored one with green being the predominant color.   I could only find a pic of the blue one. I didn't have the double tail though.


I had this shape.



I remember the Grentec's as well though.
