for the first few months i lived in portland, i didn't know that. i'd roll up, hand dude a twenty and ask for 18 in gas, then drive off before they brought my change... finally one day the dude at the pump gave me my change before pumping my gas, and when i tried to give it back to him, he got all confused, and i figured out that you don't have to tip those dudes.

oh well.
