Theres a video of Tony T skating a vert ramp, no pads and all balls. Independent pretty much sponsors every good vert skater. I wasnt really thinking about the new Santa Cruz but the old Santa Cruz. Hosoi is all vert im pretty sure... and Vans has Grosso, Hosoi, Bucky, Omar, Cab and Alva.

no, you

If i had a sponsor me tape of me killing a pool or ramp why wouldnt they...?

the worst is when they go to a skate park, yet only do flatland flip tricks...usually in front of ramps and stuff. the best is when it's a 10 person game of 16 years and under s.k.a.t.e.
meaning none of them land any tricks except shove its and the occasional kickflip, yet they keep trying for that 360 flip. that's totally cool if that's what they're into, but please don't do it in front of the shit people want to skate. take it to your driveway or something!
did it ever occur to you that barging it just might make them move?

also, ever think that maybe they're doing a little thing called "learning new tricks?"

because i'm not some grumpy old mad dog skater who thinks they have any special rights to skate because they're a little older than other skaters. and i hear them yell "LET'S PLAY S.K.A.T.E" and then they play rock, paper, scissors to decide who goes first, etc. i understand that you have to practice to be able to learn new shit, but when you can't even kickflip, why go for the 360 flip?

If it wasn't for street skating we'd have less variety in the people who skate. It wouldn't be as accessible for inner city kids and such.

it must also be noted that there are hardly anymore vert ramp only skater anymore, thus the submissions from vert skaters isn't there. most vert skaters now either skate bowls or megaramps, which are both technically vert at some point, but they almost cancelled the vert contest at the xgames because of the dwindling population of vert ramps. why don't we choose a freestyler or slalom dude while we are at it? there is one vert ramp in nyc, but i have probably only seen two people skate it. most of the time it sits idle. that is saying something...

i have skated it a couple times, but since it get bored with it after a bit, i usually go to the miniramp and have much more fun. it has a nice 7 foot extension and a spine into the street course. it is metal though Sad

It's funny because when I think of Thrasher I think of (no really) Deluxe, Anti-hero, Tony Trujillo, Max Schaaf, Real,......essentially ill transition skating coverage...Phil Shao....when no other mags were doing so.   Ledges and "street" aka rails WERE the only coverage at one point.   Thrasher on the other hand was lending a helping hand in so many of what I consider "tranny" skaters get coverage when so many other mags weren't.

Yeah its not VERT...but seriously a real VERT ramp back and forth machine is hard to come by for most skaters and then to excel at skating where you have no choice but to go 20-25mph plus to do tricks well its just not as common as the kid who can kickflip a 10 stair or whatever is boring at the moment.

If there are VERT ams out there that need to "get sponsored" via the thrasher website..well Ben Raybourn's covered....and well all the others....send their shit in.    It's quite possible that Thrasher hasn't seen a vert or even tranny video that's worth putting up.   Yes that is a possibility.

You sound ignorant when you ask if Thrasher sponsors anything other than events.   Who's pro for Transworld?   I heard Power Edge made these sick decks and Dave Crabb was pro for them?? Yeah right.

This is a question I've had for a while, do all the vert-only skaters who never skate street even cruise around? Or do they just have their parents drive them to the local half pipe, with green shorts, yellow t shirt and full pads mall grabbing and shit and then once they get to the pipe they start getting down and do their 900's while speaking to an interviewer about how important it is for him to land a 900 before the next CASL? I can't fathom the idea of Shaun White doing a slappy.

I have a longboard because i downhill. On days i dont go to the park and its nice out i go cruise around the neighborhood and bomb some hills. The only time i go street skating is with my little brother. Well go find some steep sidewalks downtown and bomb them while ollieing everything on the way down. Then we go to the next part of the city. I dont sit a 6 stair and do a trick down it then walk back up. Street skating should be just going and hitting everything you can find totally Julien Stranger style.

i've got a buddy with an 11' vert ramp.  me and some other guys also have a broken down vert ramp.  it needs to be assembled, (it's in large blocks) re sheeted and skated. it's already on a cement pad, just out side of town.  we are going to make a strong effort to get it going this summer.

I've only skated a 9 footer at Woodward.  I rock full pads and it's so fun.  I can only do like 5 or six tricks but it feels amazing.  I just learned FS airs in a 7 foot bowl and I can't wait to take it to the vert in July.  It's just like anything else, you have to invest some time in it to be able to have fun.
