That would get keyed up and torn off by a religious fanatic within weeks....

that's a good point... and something i've been thinking about personally.

like, a lot of creationists try to find 'loopholes' in creation to show how it proves God exists. but i think... since God is all powerful and all knowing.. if he left a 'glitch' or a 'loophole' then it wouldn't be that impressive... and it wouldn't be all up to faith

"there probably is no god.  so stop worrying and get on with your life."

ad's being run on the side of city buses in my town.  there has also been some "christian" ad's to retort.  i don't believe in "god" per say, but i guess i believe in what most would describe as "the force", or perhaps "mother nature".  no, i'm not a jedi.  i believe in evolution.  i went to the dinosaur museum last month. seems pretty accurate to me.

i don't care what people believe in, just don't try to make me switch beliefs.  bus ad's are not going to sway peoples' beliefs either, however i agree with the ad i posted.  religion is, in my opinion, the cause of all the worlds wars and suffering. i've made it this far without god. pretty sure i'm going to make it another 33 years with out him also.

There is a god, and his name isn't Christ.

It's Cardiel.

where do you live - in Ottawa by chance? Humanist Canada tried to run similar ads in my city as well but metro transit rejected them. apparently they've been trying to run these ads all over the country and it has religious folks' knickers in a twist.

i honestly don't know what to believe about evolution. i mean, i know i don't believe it, but i dont know EXACTLY why.

and

I know that he didn't place fossils in the earth a couple thousand years ago to try and trick us

i dont believe that either, nor does anyone else i know

I didn't even read the thread.

So no!

It actually came from a discussion I had with a friend of mine about how little we know about our origins.  I have a tendency at times to be skeptical about the linear reasoning of science.

i live in Calgary.  those are the ads they are running.   the christian and muslim communities have both placed ads to confront the atheists.  i can't remember what they were. i think the price of promoting religion on others who may or may not care was about 12 grand for a few buses, over about 4 months.

I agree with that to some extent...kinda like the Cardiel thing...if you visualize yourself landing it, you're gonna land it eventually.  If you want certain results, you're gonna be more inclined to "find" them.  Some physical science stuff if pretty hard to deny, though.

If you say you believe in evolution, you don't know enough about it. Evolution is a model that fits really, really well with everything we know about biology. Without evolution we'd just be taking shots in the dark about what the fuck is going on around us. By just saying, "god created everything" You're not gaining any incite, you're just stopping the conversation. It's the same thing that happened with other sciences. Geology for example, it was thought that all the features around us were all created by Noah's flood. By leaving it at that nothing was really understood about geology and some guy named Hutton had to come along and piss off a lot of religious types by saying the earth is old as hell and a giant flood doesn't explain it.
I don't get the whole science vs. religion debate. Both subjects have their place and neither one is with the other.
