Here I go again...

Though I am emphatically not a religionist I have to confess that some of the most interesting discussions arise from religious debate (and that I haven't read all of this one.)

The 7 days of creation are not taken as 24 hour days by all christians. Carbon dating is not foolproof.

'Survival of the fittest' natural selection doesn't seem to have a mechanism to jump from one species to generating another - in the past this was a pretty good argument for some kind of divine input, but we are still discovering tiny shards of information about the mechanisms of dna and gradual mutation -  we are like children in a plasticine garden. Science is surely as intricately beautiful as any religious conception, if not more so. Religion has a lot to live up to.

i know i am a couple day late on this but what has always confused me is the lack of attempts most chrisitians have made to fit the evolution theory into their story. is it not possible that adam and eve were single celled organisms and that most stories were not told literally but more metophorically and that the big bang was god's doing and that 7 days were not 7 literal 24 hour periods? it would make more sense then just denying evolution.

lots of Christians would end up confessing that they aren't true 'christians' given the correct set of questions.

most would say 'yeah, i believe the bible'... and they go to church every so often but dont know what the hell it is that they side with.

it's not 'heathenistic' to work science into Christianity, it just scares people because they aren't smart enough/haven't done enough biblical OR scientific research to argue with anyone who thinks different than them, so they stick with name calling and 'blasphemy' claims.

Gnarcissistic?
