hi tops=broken shins.

I skated in them for 20 years and survived.

Seems like everyone had a pair of these at one time.

Fuck that, man, they scare me.  I might wear some mids (half cabs) but even those make me nervous.  I'm so used to my ankles rolling that I can walk it off, but with hi tops or sky tops I think there'll be no room for my ankle to bend if I fall on it, so my shin will snap.  Whether it's physically possible or not, they scare the shit out of me.  Idk.

It was just a time (late 70's through the mid 80's) when they were the skate show. I wore high tops til the mid 90's as they were the shoe I was most comfortable with.

Nope. There is still a lot of give and actually provided padding for my ankles when I got the dreaded ankle bite.

This guy would have been cool had he been wearing some old school vans.

Here's the guy that WAS wearing them!  See?  his ankles couldn't just roll and this is the carnage as a result.  He now exclusively rip sticks.
