I think that was boring and typical.. I had to listen to it four times and I was just as bored with it every time. "Niggas?" I'm sorry I hate that word. My niece is Black, anyone calls her that gets a fist in the chops from me. Nothing more lame than hanging out at the bar and hearing people calling each other "niggas." Most of us just look and think ... "for real? Wow!"

I thought you were against super-pc people?  Weren't you talking in the bad brains thread about "real punk rock not being pc blah blah blah".  Hip hop isn't either.  Also, I don't like it either, but its pretty commonplace in inner cities for people to say "nigga", I know you come from a midwest college town but I live in a fairly populated northeast city and hear that kind of stuff all the time, I don't like it, but I'm not about to stop listening to music because it says a word I don't like, especially when I'm not black nor am I really engaged in hip hop culture (though I can still appreciate hip hop)

can I ask what was meaningful about that song?

flow from one line to another that does not sound stale or forced
extended use of metaphors
interesting and changing rhyme schemes

come on chuck, I love punk too, but most black flags songs are a couple power chords and someone screaming about society, if you honestly can't see how much talent it takes to write good rap lyrics then I feel bad for you
dissing an entire genre is stupid, you may not like it, but there is good music in every genre, the world is a diverse place and not everyone comes from the same living situation you do, I may not always identify with hip hop, or punk, or country, or any genre, but I can appreciate it for what it is

If not liking a derogatory word like Nigger or Nigga is PC then call me that then.

It's just personal tastes, not appreciation, I gotta give props to anyone that is trying to be creative. With that said,I think most hip hop is boring and no, I didn't like the song you posted, again it's just my personal taste.  And yes I can appreciate a good lyricist, I digs me the PE, and I like Sage Francis' lyrics.

Cool hombre?

of course its cool, you can have your opinions, that's fine, its just dumb to start getting all pissed and offended by something just because you can't understand the societal background it comes from
I don't care that you don't like the n word, I even agreed with you on that, but your entire argument as to why you didn't like the song was based on the fact that you didn't like one word, even when its obviously not being used in a derogatory way, and isn't the point of the song.  There are real problems in the world and rappers saying nigga isn't one of them.
agree to disagree though, its cool

you know, in pioneer times, a "dude" was a term for pretty boys and homosexuals. times and the language change.
words are just words. it's context that gives them the power to offend.

i can make "sir" just as derogatory as "faggot" if i say it right.

Point taken, but no way I could ever call someone that, I would feel dumb(er).  I hope there is never a day when the N word becomes socially acceptable.

the day is here already. i hear kids of all races throwing it around constantly. and giving the word that much power only give power to those who would use it in a negative context.

It's just a word holmes. Im african american and would consider myself in tune with the hip hop culture  and I however don't use it. I do know TONS of people however who do though.(I might hear 100 or so times throughout the day) I don't mind it' s a term of endearment. This shit isn't some new trend though. My mom uses it, shit my gramps uses it.
