Proper stretching and a Ace bandage wrap perhaps? Couldn't hurt by no means. I used to wear a neoprene knee brace when I skated almost everyday. It felt good.

unless you have ligament damage or something, wearing a brace will actually weaken the joint. you start to depend on the brace to keep shit in place, and it can actually do more harm than good. 

swimming is killer rehab, as is riding a bike.get yourself a cruiser bike and you can spot hunt while you fix yourself up. win-win.

True.  I'm just getting off my knee brace this week...

Neoprene knee braces, which don't actually provide support, signal to your brain to be careful of the knee.  They don't make you rely on the brace, so your knees aren't weakened by wearing them.  And the compression helps with swelling, which can be nice for us old guys.
