Seems like a positive thing to me.  $50 a month is pretty cheap for that kind of advertising.

the minimum payment is 50 a month, but thats still 600 a year for nearly pointless advertising... its 5000 for the photo and write up and all that stuff.

Then again,if it was free, any place could sign up passing itself as legit a skateshop. Like those sporting good stores or whatever that happens to have a wall or corner of boards. You don't wanna walk in expecting to get everything you need and end up seeing Plan B ,sector 9 completes, and Rob Dyrdek boards all over the store.
It's pretty annoying, I got a board from a local sporting goods store, the fool told me "you're gonna need grip,so you can stay on your board" I felt insulted cause he kept saying really obvious things, but I let it slip, cause he wasn't being an asshole or anything.

For $5K the team should have their own United Nations!  If that were the case I'd be trying to raise money  Tongue

I don't think selling advertising is the point here. You see ads on every skate site. I'm looking at three right now that are fine because they don't pretend to be anything more than ads. Berra's commercial is like watching a cult recruitment film, only more melodramatic and more ridiculous.

$50 a month for the basic plan isnt tooooo bad.

If a shop were to do that and gained 12 new customers who either bought a deck or shoes it would pay for itself over a one year time span.

You don't know the profit margins of a skateshop do you?

12 people

6 decks........about $60-70 in profit

6 shoes........6 X $30  ~ $180

Way shy of that $600 a year advertistement.

Who goes to the berrics.com to learn about their local shop anyway?    Isn't it obvious when you park in front of a mall that this one may not be like the other?

It could easily be free and still keep Zumiez from getting on the list.    It's called Berra/Kostons approval and can be paid for by more lame Reda NBC appearances.

Yeah true - I know the profit margins are slim running a skate shop but it still could be a decent way to gain customers/advertise.  I guess we'll see how many shops sign up.
