God damn!  He's so fucking sick!  Everything he does you can see it; he's putting every fucking ounce of everything he's got into it!  I love it how I've never, in 10 years of skateboarding, ever heard a single negative word about the dude.  If it's still around in 10,000 years, there will still never ever be another dude like him.

His part in Sight Unseen is by far my favorite video part of all time.  All terrain!  Notice how in the skate and destroy book, homeboy has more pics than anybody else!

I was in New York City a few months back and when I was taking the subway back to my cousin's house and some guy with a spitfire hat and a pair of Vans came up to me and said "I like your shirt", I was wearing a Beauty and The Beast shirt by the way. And I said "thanks" and he opened the exit emergency door for me. When I got outside the first thing I thought was "Holy shit, that was John Cardiel!". I'm still not sure if it was him or just some random person who liked my shirt but I believe it was him, the guy looked and talked exactly like him. That was one of my teenage fanboy moments and I'll never forget that day.

My buddy (who does not skate at all) met him at some Skate 2 function...he said he was very cool, he almost got his car towed while he was talking though...apparently he's still not moving to quickly, which is a bummer.

Agreed.  I was so bummed when I found out what happened, but the fact that he can still skate at all makes the whole legend of JC that much better.

I was out of the skate scene for about a year...when I came back, the first person I started discussing was Cardiel...some guy said "Haven't you heard?  He's paralyzed or something.  Got ran over by a van."...not fun information to hear.
