No one can make you go compete, but there wont be a problem finding people that will.  Almost every town has a skatepark now. You can't tell me everyone that skates is a "purist"and will refuse participating. Wait until they see the Olympic skateboard training facility.  You'll see the same skaters in the Olympics as you do the X-Games. Given the opportunity I'm not so sure I'd turn it down myself. It would be quite the experience.

That said... I dont care one way or the other if it becomes an Olympic "sport". I know why I skate.

Who cares? It will be like the Xgames if the pros want to go for it and win some cash or fame they should go for it. Imo contests are boring i ve never watched one neither will I.
