maybe a contest where you have to show the slams before the makes... then have winners for gnarlies slams, best trick, etc.

I'm completely in favor of a King Of The Web contest.  Make a trick/prank book and have each worth some points, most points at the end of the month wins.  That way we can see some good skating, AND dudes making out with 60 year olds.

And of course there would have to be a entry based on each Swayze movie.

Roadhouse - 50pts. - walk into a bar and punch somebody or throw glass bottle at band behind chicken wire.

Red Dawn - The possibilities are endless.

Dirty Danson - 30pts.  - Go to skatepark in leotards and shred a 3 trick line.

Point Break - 20pts. -  "   "  but wearing a wetsuit yelling "Bro" at the top of your lungs.

Youngblood - 40pts. - shave pubes

This is fun...

How about a contest to write a Thrasher magazine style article with photographs about one local unsponsored skater?
It could talk a bit about their Bio, Then some skating achievements. It could be graded on professionalism and photography.

Not if you're going to rap about your homies.

Well my point was a professional style article. Does it matter if it's about a friend? As long as the photographic proof is there and the article is well written and believeable

Either way, I don't think too many people want to read about unsponsored skaters.
Good concept, but the content needs to be wanted.  Every skatepark is filled with the people you speak of.

If you could find a pro/am skater and get a DIY interview and some pics, then you may have something.

personally i like the scavenger hunt thing that malinas came up with or the best photo contest .  the contests that dont involve skating (photo hunts and other shit like that) seem stupid to me since i think the contests should promote going out and skating not sitting on your ass

DIY contest.

multiple prizes-

best spot, best trick, best use of environmental features, best overall... so much potential.

it would have to be the sort of thing with a pretty far off deadline for actual spot building, it could be really cool.

I guess your right but I'd still read an article about some random unsponsored kid if the right photos were presented with it.

Actually I just had an Idea for a contest. Design a deck contest. I don't know which company would support it but design a deck aimed towards a certain company or skateboarder in particular.
That could be the advanced photoshop contest schmitty was talking about at the end of the gerwer contest. I wonder if they could get Anti-Hero to back that one too.
