when it happened the first time you know how it was, going out and having people throw shit at you, the pointing, staring and name calling. It was lame. People would drive around on the weekends just looking to kick our asses, every night was a confrontation.

this is still true for skateboarding....  at least in my hometown....   people are so fucking conservative it makes me want to barf.  When I hit mainstreet for some easy downhill turns, people honk and swear and flip me off and shit.  Fuck 'em...  they are driving their steel coffins home to clog their arteries with the evening red meat, and will never understand what's cool in this world.  everything is so fucking pointless anyways...  9-5 sucks ass, but when i get off...  i get off on my board.

Billy Idol and Steve Stevens still come around every once in a while...  I'm happy with punk.

This argument comes up all the fucking time, but what the hell is punk anyway? If you want to talk about a musical genre, how do you explain so many diy bands across the nation doing 'core' punk music? Personally, I always saw punk as more an attitude. Like dudes that don't give a fuck about anything. In that sense there's always been posers and that's what we've all been seeing for years. I always thought the whole, dress this way, listen to this music, and you'll be punk too,  attitude was just conformity. Fuck that.

tumorfeast, could you please post a complete list of what bands are punk and what bands pose as punk? We then could post a link on all of the punk sites to this thread so they could use it as a reference as to what is legit and what isn't.

Punk is now readily available at your local Hot Topic. (They do mail order too, in case your Mom won't take you to the mall!)
