Make the gap bigger, put alligators in it

I second this notion and only wish I'd thought of it first.

you know, im pretty sick of indy being some sacred cow that nobody is allowed to say anything bad about...

their trucks USED to be the best. but stage 9 is garbage. when i was younger, i skated harder, and they lasted longer.  now, the axles slip, the baseplates break, and a million mall kooks are wearing their shit.

i still ride them, because i'm too old to get used to new geometry, but they're not all that great anymore.

and thats real talk.

The "Mega" ramp should be Danny's thing, and Danny's thing only.  I'm sure he's even over it now.

But at least it's not as gay as doing the loop.  They should've made an unwritten rule that prohibits the loop after Grosso pulled it.

Make the gap bigger, put alligators in it, or shut 'er down.

I don't think he's over it.

That's true, and isn't it sad? It's all about the media these days. I'm sure that's been discussed to death in the Sheckler thread.

Yes, I'm sure he can't wait to come up with the next new thing and have ESPN rape it to death.

Are you fucking serious!  Can you imagine the shit he would be doing if he wasn't hurt all the time. Danny and Bob are rewriting skateboarding according to there own rules.  Media has got nothing to do with it.

I've also seen switch backflip and a rocket backflip body varial(Huh?)

dude, media and hype have everything to do with it. do you think the money to build those things would be available without mass media exposure and sponsorships? you think that the chinese government would have let him anywhere near the great wall if there weren't some serious corporate dollars involved? or that the hard rock would've let him build that big bomb drop ramp if it was just gonna be for some skate company's ad?

its rad, its ballsy, its super gnarly, and i totally respect what those dudes are doing, pushing the limits and all that, but at the end of the day, its stuntboarding, and has little to nothing to do with skateboarding as i know it.

after watching most videos, i can go out and try the tricks i've seen, and usually on a pretty similar obstacle. i might not land them, and they might not be that stylish if i do, but at least i can relate on some level.  but after watching some mega ramp stuff, all i can do is think about the logistical nightmare it must be, how much loot it costs to build one of them things, and how inaccessable it is to the average skater.

i'll still watch, though, because its fucking nuts.

No it doesn't cause Bob and Danny would do it regardless of whether or not it is there.

And it does matter to me and my skating cause Danny is 33 and pushing limits harder than anyone.

Wurd.

Without the fliptricks (which would be nuts without grabs over a 50 foot alligator gap) it is just snowboarding in the summer.

Nobody would lather the streets of SF with snow for jibbing purposes without major $$$, permits, etc.
None of Danny's accomplishments would've been possible without DC/Quicksilver.  The helicopter drop-in that started all of this was just for a photo shoot and then it all snowballed into ESPN.

I love Danny Way.  If I were in his position, I would be taking full advantage of the rich backers too.
But like you said, your average skater will probably never even attempt the meganess.  It's not like they're going to start putting them in skateparks...

They would skate the mega invisible ramp?

so he'd just build a ramp, costing several hundred grand, renegade style and barge it? and i suppose to pay for it, he'd just take up a collection from the bros like we did when we put pool coping on our miniramp.

you're either very young, very high, or very stupid...  possibly all 3.

YOU DON'T GET IT.
