we could kill it.

It's already dead. And this is why....

it was bad enough companies like nike, red bull, monster and mountain dew had to throw their greedy little hats in the skateboard/sponsorship world, but now here comes Gatorade with their fucking commercials depicting Chaz Ortiz being mesmerized by Muhammad Ali or their ad of him sweating "tropical splash" after grinding a rail and more recently their newest "athlete" Sean Malto with a nollie heel (i think) down a double set (again, i think, it went kinda fast) being shown in a commercial montage that included the likes of Dwayne Wade and........... ughhh......... beach volleyball, what i want to know is when is it going to be enough? We put up with Dyrdek and Sheckler on MTV (and now J-Rog on TMZ), pre-supra TK with his ice creams and jewelry, and not to mention the fucking Dew Tour, but when do we start calling people out for their suspect if not completely bullshit sponsors?

What has this sport become? Every secon.d person you see riding a skateboard is wearing converse shoes and an adidas hat. If you/r a wear adidas, play soccer. Dont ruin skateboarding. And get this shit off of tv, the closest it belongs to the mediia is in a magazine. Now, im fifteen been skateboarding for just about 3 years now, still cant do shit though. so what do skaters need to do to fix our image? nothing about ryan sheckler either, im tired of seeing his name.

Local laws can be unconstitutional and sit on the books for years.  Its's great that someone caught that ish though b/c someone would have had to have gone to jail and then take the appeal process at least to the State Supreme Court.    Essentially the city could even have it written into their own law books..not just skatepark rules....and the cops could act accordingly.   Getting rid of it saved the public a lot of money in court and lawyer fees.    All so "the general public could feel safer"  by putting kids smoking bowls at the park in jail.     This country is so fucked.

Cusack is down for skating and is obviously anti big corporate sponsorship for skating.     I have those moments but I simply turn the other cheek.    I love skateboarding but to me there is way worse that could happen than companies like Nike and Adidas "getting involved".    They both have made amazing skate shoes before they even realized it.    Both shoes companies have been in skating since the seventies.    The first ever THRASHER...the dude in the drawing is skating NIKE!   I grew up watching Daewon, Chico, Brian Lotti, Marc Johnson all rocking Gazelles or Campus Adidas and well if you've skated in some....they fucking rule.    Nike and Adidas also sponsor A SHIT LOAD of people.   I know a kid who recently quit NIKE but just because he was getting shoes from them he was able to eat, skate, and live job free off all the money he made selling his "extra" dunks and the like.    That's NOT what most sponsors are able to do for someone.     So really I don't think they are so evil.    Just my opinion.

Seeing some Chaz Ortiz commercial where he's sweating orange while SKATING is still 20 times better than a UFC banner ad running across the top page of Thrasher.   UFC does't make a sick shoe, sponsor any skater......or even make a good drink with electrolytes?Huh?    To me that's just insane.

Yeah, I went back a few months and dug up some old posts from when we were getting bombed with all of these 15 year old hardcore "purists."

Me personally, I could care less what anyone drinks, or the shoes on their feet.
