snap my leg in half

I feel your pain homie. Busted my shit in January and I'm now just starting to push around again. Some friendly advice, move your toes and ankle (if at all possible) as often as you can. When you start walking again it'll help.

I rolled the shit out of my ankle the other day attempting a half-assed boardslide.  I was pretty much done for the day, just skating around and in retrospect wasn’t paying attention to what I was doing at all, over rotated, slid off and landed with my foot sideways sans board.

I had my headphones on with some pretty loud music and I still heard the snap/ripping sound, saw the bottom of my fucking shoe and thought for sure that I would be going to the hospital/hanging it up for awhile.

I am impressed with how well the following worked for me:
1.  Stopped skating right away.
2.  Rushed home and focused on keeping the swelling down with Ibuprofen, ice, elevation and a compression wrap.
I am no stranger to injuries and apparently most of the damage done with a sprain comes from tissue damage
caused by swelling and not taking measures to stop it as soon as possible.
3.  Iced it for 15 minutes every few hours the next day, kept up with the Ibuprofen and started doing the range of
     motion ABCs.

I realize the above sounds a little like overkill but shit hit the fan on Tuesday and I was back on my board Thursday with barely noticeable swelling, full range of motion and no pain so I am really happy that it worked.

i don't think that it's overkill.  i usually do the same. i rolled mine a couple weeks back and finally had a good session on it last night. i destroyed my big toe on the other foot the same day i wrecked my ankle. it's sill sore but i can deal with it.

unfortunately i didn't get as much rest as i would have liked. i walk about 20kms a day for work but i think it helped it along anyways.

Toe injuries are always pretty lame since there isn't a whole lot that you can do except deal with them.  I have definitely learned to do whatever I can to nurse certain injuries right away.  It's surprising how much trying to push through some things can make them so much worse.  Maybe it's just a matter of luck, but I have rolled my ankle before in what seemed to be a lot less severe of a case so I skipped the first aid and ended up on crutches the next day.

Putting 20K on a rolled ankle can't be fun, you might want to invest in one of those  Rascal motorized carts or a Segway for such occasions.  Dignity be damned.

Rolled my ankle pretty good while warming up the day my friend and I decided we were going to film some quick clips at the Zootown park.  Fortunately, it got a little tweaked everywhere, instead of a lot of tweaked in one area.  Homie talked me into filming a clip anyway, and I'm psyched I did.  Its wasn't as tech of a line as I would have tried otherwise, but I got the last trick exactly the way I wanted to for the first time all weekend.  Some nice purple hues going on now, but it seems mostly ok pain/flexiblity wise.  Should be skating again by Saturday.
