I don't know about that. I've had the same set for like 2 years already and I haven't replaced a single one. Now, I don't rip 12 sets every session, but I do distinctly remember destroying every other bearing before these.

^^^What you said, the ceramics lasted me forever.  I'd still have them if it weren't for stupid European airports.

my friends mom used to work for bones so we would get the ceramics for free (didnt know how lucky i was at the time...) and would blow them out like 3 a day doing nothing but skating like grind boxes and ollieing off 3 sets.

Weird.  My last set of Swiss bearings lasted over three years (non ceramic) and they were still in great shape... I actually had no reason to replace them... but then I saw the ceramics online and splurged.  Everyone that I've known that have owned ceramics raved about them so I finally gave in to the hefty price tag.  I'm thinking these ceramics should last me a loooooooong time.  Plus I still have my Swiss as a backup in case they are lemons (they better not be!!).

Funny - similar story here.  I've never had a Swiss bearing fail on me.  The only other times I had to replace them were occasions where my board was lost/stolen (or me burning money like in this case Grin )

ground down krux 4.0's
spitty 57mm big heads, with reds
8" shop board
mob grip with feet cut out, risers, hardware. the phillips head shortys. i hope i was specific enough.

since this post, i set up a naysayer itty bitty kitty. it was rad. unfortunately, i broke it and have set up another shop board like my previous post. i've got a biggie stardust that i'm holding out for spring until i set it up.  wheels are a little smaller, trucks show more axle and i did the same grip tape design on each board. i reused the same hardware.

You got some kinda hookup?  You always talking about lack of money, but you got ceramics?  Twice?  I've never owned swiss or ceramic.

I've got the Independent Bearings.

I think the ABEC7's, they were only 18 bucks and I wanted to try something other than Bones Reds. They really are fast, I've had them since last August. Next on my list of things to buy would probably be trucks and wheels. Thinking either Indy's or Thunders for trucks and Bones for wheels.

does the abec rating really mean anything?  I mean, I spit that shit at people when I'm selling them bearings, but I don't really know what I'm talking about.

isnt that the amount of heat from friction they can take before they break? like a 7 can handle going really fast for a long time, but a 3 couldnt last as long at that speed? I dont know...

Here is a quick copy paste from wiki.  I bolded an interesting part.

Quote
ABEC scale
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The ABEC scale is a system used throughout the manufacturing industry for rating the manufacturing tolerances of precision bearings, developed by the Annular Bearing Engineering Committee (ABEC) of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA). Bearings are rated using an odd number between 1 and 9. The higher the number, the greater the manufactured precision of the bearing. Bearings manufactured within tighter tolerance ranges provide greater accuracy of shaft rotation and contribute to higher speed capability. However, the ABEC rating does not specify many other critical factors, such as smoothness of the rolling contact surfaces, ball precision, and material quality.

There are no required materials in the ABEC grades. ABEC specifications refer only to bearing accuracy and precision. Bearings not conforming to at least ABEC 1 are not precision bearings. ABEC and ISO precision gradings are used for bearings throughout the industry.

The scale is designed to allow a user to make an informed decision about the type of bearing they are purchasing. High rated bearings are intended for precision applications like aircraft instruments or surgical equipment. Lower grades are intended for the vast majority of applications such as vehicles, mechanical hobbies, skates, fishing reels and industrial machinery. High ABEC rated bearings allow optimal performance of critical applications requiring very high RPM and smooth operation. High ABEC rated bearings do not make equipment go faster however they allow high precision equipment to operate at their optimum speed and efficiency.[1]
ISO's equivalent standard is ISO 492.[2][3]
